Scholarship Recipients

The Helen Hites Scholarship was announced on Saturday, November 9, 2013 during the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (Alpha Kappa Psi Chapter) 2012-2013 Induction Ceremony. Congratulations Ms. Rhea J. Mateo and Madison Homer!    Our family wants to congratulate you for receiving the scholarship name after our daughter Helen!  We are pleased to share the following  Quotes from Rhea J. Mateo "  I am excited to share my educational and career aspirations with you. After I complete my associate degree over the next two years  at Kapiolani Community College,   I intend to transfer to the University Hawaii - West O'ahu to purse both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Biological Sciences. My ultimate goal is to specialize in Physical Therapy. Receiving this scholarship would be incredibly significant for me. It would not only ease the financial burden associated with higher education but also prevent me from accumulating student debt, which is a major concern for many students today. By alleviating these financial stresses, I would be able to focus more intently on my studies and career development rather than worrying about tuition coasts and related expenses...this scholarship represents more than just financial support; it is an investment in my dream to help others and make a meaningful difference in the world. Congratulations Ms. Elizabeth Martinez!  Our family wants to congratulate you for receiving the scholarship name after our daughter Helen.  We realize the criteria for this award is tough but you certainly had all of the qualifications.  Good luck to you and your children with many blessings.  We have to tell you something special.  When we read your letter, we could have swore it was written by Helen.  You much be a fine person because she certainly was  Keep up the good work and may be her son Phoenix can meet you in the future and offer his congratulations.  Quotes from Elizabeth Martinez "I want to express my sincere gratitude for making the Helen Hites scholarship possible.  I have learned about my selection to be a recipient of this honor, and I sincerely appreciate your support. Due to Covid, there has been no ceremony to honor the recipient but our family congratulate Kyu Hynn for her efforts. The Scholarship will continue and we hope to meet the awardee in the future.
